Backstory
Holly’s birth was an event. It wasn’t every day a little baby was born blessed with angelic features. Before she could even speak. It was determined as to what kind of life she would live. Her father, a priest for the local church, was determined to teach her humility, patience, kindness, justice and morals. He felt that his soul would be damned if his precious daughter was led astray due to the evils of the world.
Her mother's keen eye noticed the wandering eyes in town. She noticed the expressions of adoration and love. Yet what disturbed her greatly were the expressions of lust, hunger and exploitation. Rumours wafted through the under-town claiming that a single person could do miraculous things. After a simple altercation, It was later proven that her feathers are nothing special. They were mundane.
When it came to Holly’s training, her father insisted that Holly join the ranks of the clergy. Yet with every prayer, and guidance offered no celestial powers manifested. Her mother suggested teaching her magic, yet the magical formulas of wizardry proved too complicated for young Holly to understand. Not to mention expensive.
Feeling the weight of disappointment from her parents, she felt that a good compromise would be to join the city guard. That way she could still help the community, plus it would be less burdensome of the family financially. A perfect compromise it seemed.
It soon came apparent to her during enlistment that she was vastly outclassed. Her size was a disadvantage, her magical skill was lacking. The trainer took one look at her and scoffed at the winged girl. He simply shook his head and tossed her a greataxe. To him, she was a delicate flower that wasn’t going to last. A thing that would wilt at the slightest bit of conflict.
Like a persistent weed, she endured. While she may not have been their best fighter, she was quick at detescalating confrontations using her moral upbringing as her guide.
Personality
Ever since she was young, Holly was expected to do so much. She was expected to be the bigger person when it came to confrontations. She was expected to be kind, gentle and bubbly at all times. In order to achieve this state of being, she had to mute all of her personality quicks that others saw as “immoral” to adhere to this double standard.
She fears the rejection and disappointment of others as she has been conditioned to live out the mortal idea of what an angel would be like.
Goals and Dreams
Holly doesn’t have large aspirations for herself. She’s content with the life path she thinks she chose for herself. Yet she has the secret fantasy of breaking free from this double standard.
