Backstory
Growing up, Bastet’s childhood was a blessed one. She and like her numerous siblings were born under the Debussy house. A well connected noble family that ruled the city in the Fathomless Expanse called Enchantress’s Way.
Her childhood days were filled with a structured routine and chaos. The djinn didn’t mind though, it was her parents' way of ensuring that their children had everything they needed to succeed in life to stand on their own. As a good daughter, Bastet applied herself in her studies of magic. She wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps of being a grand enchantress.
For years under her mother’s tutelage, the lioness poured her soul into learning the intricacies of magic and conducting experiments to form an understanding of how magic works. Bastet loved how each magical formula was a puzzle to be solved and balanced. It was equally satisfying seeing the results of her labour.
However the more tedious lessons came from her father. A repetitive series of exercises to train the body and mind to be aware of one’s surroundings, to walk with the grace of a hunting predator and to lockpick locks. His philosophy (or excuse) was that since his children were considered nobles through birthright, there would be people who would prey on them.
Bastet struggled to understand the importance of these skills until she joined her father on a trip to Hextor so that he could catch up with an old friend. The trip was long and arduous, and if it wasn’t father’s lessons she would have lost a bracelet she enchanted from would be pickpockets. It was an eye opening experience for her.
There was one thing that Bastet didn’t inherit from her parents, was their distaste towards the swamp. To the djinn, they were beautiful. The sludgy mud provided a home of some of the more interesting plants she had ever seen. Especially the carnivorous plants who feasted on the beasts of the land. She was immediately upset at her father’s refusal to uproot the mighty plant to take home.
Her time meeting Florentina was a soul nourishing experience. Not only was she massively successful, she was also an equailbrezmaz. She was coarse around the edges and vulgar, yet kind and well read. While they were not related by blood, Florentina was the cool aunt Bastet needed. The giantess showed her the Hextorian way of life and their culture. Immediately the lioness was captivated by the necrotic swamps.
When it was time to return home from the swamp land, Bastet was happy to be reunited with her family. However a part of her longed to go back to the necrotic swamps. The djinn bided her time and continued her studies as she made preparations to move to Kilk Mire.
Romance and Partnership:
Bastet desires to branch off from her father’s pride and start one of her own. The lioness is drawn to the smaller males. She finds their weak demeanor captivating and marvels at their submissiveness. The lioness revels in their attention and their praise as they worship her buxom form.
These males to Bastet are trophies to adorn her presence, not a respectable partner in life. They are toys to be played with. Their individuality matters little to her as long as they know their place. However these arrangements often end up temporary. Either she gets bored with them, or they escape the clutches of her overbearing claws.
Her Precious Queen
The Lich Queen’s love was an all consuming fire the lioness braved with confidence. Xandera’s affection was terrifying, domineering, and exhausting. Underneath her cold words was a hidden ember of warmth that massaged the lion’s ears. Her touch is a soothing psalm to the soul. Her gentle love was filled with promises that were kept.
Within these contradictions, Bastet saw who Xandera really was. A woman who craved the love and warmth of a living partner. She needed someone to show her how to be alive again. A person who craved the arms of a strong and diligent partner.
The lioness accepted this role without question. She was addicted to Xandera's affection. It gave her purpose as she navigated this relationship. Bastet always strove to find ways to tempt and please her lover. Always watching Xandera’s divine movements for the faintest opportunity to spoil and tease her lover with sincere affection. It was her way of showing her the beauty and fullness that living life could offer.
The union between the two equailbrezmaz was fueled by lust and unyielding carnality. Yet it blossomed into something magical as the Lich Queen’s womb beat with new life. A beautiful daughter that was the synthesis of their love. A child who belonged neither to the world of the dead nor the living. Thus their union was forever sealed.
Her Daugher: Kimilzamat
Caring for her daughter and watching her grow up has been some of the most rewarding experiences for Bastet. Her precious kitten lived in honour and pride of her sacred Heritage. When Kimilzamat was old enough to hold a piece of chalk, she scrawled necromantic runs every she could. She was a gift that had to be nurtured.
Whilst her mother Xandera daughter the ways of a necromancer, Bastet was there to guide her kitten how to draw out her magic. As Kimilzamat’s father, she taught her daughter what her value is and how to stand tall against conflict. With every lesson, the lioness couldn’t be prouder. That precious daughter she sired was the greatest gift Xandera ever gave her.
Hobbies
Being a djinn she has a lot of free time as she doesn’t need to sleep. In her spare moments when she is not working she likes to tend to her carnivorous plants. To her, these plants represent the savageness of nature and how all life needs to consume in order to flourish. She loves occasionally feeding her plants insects and other interesting things and seeing how quickly the plant is able to digest it.
Another skill that Bastet loves to partake in is lapidary. It is the art of cutting, whittling and polishing away at gemstones to bring out their true luster. She crafts her own jewelry out of wax and pays a goldsmith to cast her designs. Every girl loves shiny things and she loves the challenge to sculpt the perfect gemstone to adorn her enchanted accessories.
